Cyclist killed in Haringey crash named as 'wonderful' worker at local private school

The woman, who died after her bike collided with an open car door as she was cycling home, has been named locally as 65-year-old Hilary Wilmer.

Ms Wilmer worked as an IT manager at Channing School, a prestigious private school in Highgate, reports the Evening Standard.

She was described by a colleague at the school, where she had worked for 25 years, as a “wonderful and rare person."

Ms Wilmer came off her bike after crashing into an open car door on Coleridge Road, a residential street in Haringey, on Friday, May 28.

She making her usual commute home when the collision happened.

Ms Wilmer was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital in a critical condition.

She sadly died from her injuries two days later in hospital, on May 30.

The driver of the car was not arrested following the incident, and is helping police with their enquiries.

A former colleague of Ms Wilmer's at Channing school, Mon McNulty, said she was a “wonderful and rare person”.
