David Seaman reveals love of Greggs and the treats Arsene banned players from eating

The legendary England shot-stopper has teamed up with Gregg's and Just Eat to offer fans free sausage rolls.

Throughout the tournament, fans can get their hands on a free sausage roll the day after the match itself on all Greggs orders over £5, placed on Just Eat, regardless of which team scores the goal.

The offer will be live the day after each match from June 13 until July 12, when a goal is scored during games played in the UK.

David told My London: "Greggs sausage rolls are just legendary, everybody knows that they are so good. Obviously, you can’t have them all the time, you’ve got to eat them as a treat, and I do."

Back in his playing days, the former England number one enjoyed some questionable pre-match meals.

He said: "For a pre-match meal, before Arsene Wenger was appointed as Arsenal manager, I would have a ham and cheese omelette and beans, Lee Dixon would have the same and Ian Wright had a fillet steak with a fried egg on top.

"But when Arsene came in, it was proper food, carbohydrates, proteins, zero fat, and it was all about maximising energy for the games."

He added: "It was just as strict for me, even as a goalkeeper. All the players got weighed every Friday, and if you were starting to creep up, you had to do extra training."

Despite Arsene's crackdown on foodie treats, David would occasionally enjoy a cheat meal: "As a treat, my guilty pleasure was Chinese or Indian but only after a game, there's no way you could have that sort of food before a game, you just ain’t going to perform.

David, who appeared on the first-ever season of Dancing on Ice in 2008, reminisced about England's famous victory against Scotland at Wembley in Euro 96.

He described the moment he saved a penalty against Scotland's Gary McAllister, but David said he might not be able to take all the credit.
