Derelict Harrow hotel to be demolished to make way for 22 flats without any affordable housing

Karparsi Properties and KJDMS Limited have been given the green light to knock down the Lindal Hotel and adjacent flats on Hindes Road, in Harrow, and replace them with a new part-three, part-four, and part-five storey block. The hotel has been neglected since it closed down in 2019

The 22 flats will be made up of 12 one-bedroom, six two-bedroom, and four three-bedroom, however, developers have said they ‘cannot support the delivery of affordable housing’ as the finances make it unviable.

Planning documents state that The Lindal Hotel had suffered from ‘several years of under investment’ prior to it closing down. Coupled with the opening of other hotels in the area, including a Travelodge that opened in 2019, meant there was ‘little prospect’ of The Lindal surviving without ‘significant investment’.

Developers described the site as ‘in a poor state of disrepair’ and is currently ‘heavily underutilised’. They feel it is ‘past its lifespan’ as a hotel, has little prospect of being used as a hotel again, and is in need of ‘urgent redevelopment’.
