Dramatic Edinburgh Firth of Forth rescue video shows RNLI save paddle boarders drifting out to sea

The pair had found themselves drifting out to sea at the edge of the Firth of Forth due to high winds that were making it difficult to get back to shore

They were rescued three-quarters of a mile north of Kingsbarns Beach by the D-class inshore lifeboat who heard their cries for help.

The duo were found clinging to their boards but were helped onboard the lifeboat by volunteer crew members.

Thomas Bett, who was a crew member aboard the rescue boat, thanked the "swift actions" of the caller who raised the alarm.

The dramatic rescue carried out by hero volunteers can be seen in a video shared on the RNLI Facebook page.

Thomas said: "Clear information made it very straightforward for us to locate the two paddle boarders.

"With wind blowing the two further away from the shore, it was absolutely the correct thing to do in calling for help.

"We urge anyone who spots someone in difficulty at the coast to dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

"If you are heading out on a paddle board, we urge you to wear a floatation device and beware of offshore winds.
