Drinkers so desperate to get back to London's pubs some have been fully booked for the last 6 weeks

We spoke to managers at two very different pubs in Hammersmith to find out what they've got in store and how drinking and dining will look after lockdown.

But bookings are filling up fast, so you'd better get in quick.

Ready to take advantage of passing trade along the popular Thames towpath will be the Blue Anchor, just yards away from Hammersmith Bridge.

The historic watering hole, whose walls bear a framed copy of its first licence awarded in 1722, also picked up a gong for Best Food Offer at The Publican Awards on March 30.

Operations manager Eima Mazeika said: “To say this is a huge achievement for us would be an understatement and we are very proud.

“We will be reopening our beautiful outside area with picnic tables on April 12. We’re already very close to being fully booked on that day for a month and a half in advance.”

Ms Mazeika said the Blue Anchor’s owner, Hippo Inns, has come to a special agreement with the Auriol Kensington Rowing Club so that extra tables will be put out while the club is closed.

She said the menu, now accessed by scanning a QR code on each table, will include “the right balance between super healthy and hearty pub food like burgers and chips… there will be something for everyone”.

In the centre of town, the private members’ club Kindred, which occupies the Grade II-listed Bradmore House, will reopen its outside dining area to the public with space for 40-50 covers.

Anna Anderson quit her career as a social worker to open Kindred in December 2018, and she “can’t wait to get going again”.

“The first week is nearly all booked up, but guests can expect chilled out vibes and we’ll have live soul music,” said the 30 year old who lives in Brook Green.
