Dwight Gayle has warned Ipswich Town and Newcastle United's other Championship rivals that he is "out to score" as many as he can after taking his tally to 11 for the season with a brace against Barnsley.

The United forward has the best goals-per-game ratio of any striker in the top four divisions so far this season.

His 11 goals have come in just 953 minutes of Championship football this term, a return of a strike every 87 minutes.

And, though the goals are flowing for the [pounds sterling]10million summer signing right now, he believes there are other aspects of his game which he must keep improving upon.

"I always have confidence in myself in front of goal but I just need to be sure that I'm helping the team in other ways as well and getting us up the pitch better," Gayle, who turns 26 today, said following his brace during the 2-0 win at Barnsley.

"I perhaps didn't have the best first half but I'm just trying to help the team as much as I can and at the moment it's getting results.

"I go out to score as many as I can, but Ipswich are a good side and we know they've been keeping a lot of clean sheets.

"We're going to have to look at all the clips and work out where it is we can break them down."
