EastEnders star Brian Conley explains utterly bizarre way he asked wife to marry him

The 59-year-old actor and West End star joined the cast of EastEnders this year, playing Terry Cant, the father of Sonia Fowler.

He has been married to fellow actress Anne -Marie for 25 years and the pair clearly have a good sense of humour if Brian's escapades are anything to go by.

Speaking to Metro, he described the unusual way he asked Anne to marry him.

He said: "I proposed as a knight in full armour. On a horse. With a choir.

"It’s our silver wedding anniversary in August. We’ve known each other 31 years."

Clearly one for eccentricities, Brian recently revealed that achieving his dream of being on EastEnders made him cry.

He said: “There’s so many of my friends who are not in this position, and I cannot tell you how lucky I am.

“And that’s why when I was on that square the first time, I cried.

“Because I appreciated how many other people would die to be here and would die to just be part of the business that I personally, and so many of my friends, have grown up in."
