Edinburgh couple 'petrified' of giant trees falling on their bungalow

Frank, 74, who lives with his disabled wife and wishes to go by his first name only, has called on the council to take urgent action in Dochart Drive in Clermiston

At the weekend Storm Kathleen battered the capital, with fallen trees causing damage to several properties.

The retiree, who has lived in his bungalow council house for 20 years, said: "I am very worried about these trees without a doubt, I think most of the residents in this area are the same.

"Every time there is even a bit of wind, I do worry that they are going to come down as they look very unstable but they all seem to be keeping each other up.

"I don't think the council will cut them down but they need to be maintained. We haven't had anyone in the past to look at them but my wife has tried to speak to our local MP but with no success."

Between the properties of Dochart Drive and Drumbrae Drive, a burn with a number of gigantic trees stands proudly, but the retiree has told us that residents are getting more and more concerned.

Frank showed Edinburgh Live the aftermath of trees falling into his garden at the weekend, flattening his fences.

He went on: "I genuinely think that if one tree fell onto our bungalow it would go straight through the roof and would cause catastrophic damage.
