Edinburgh electric scooter rider caught out in late night police crackdown

In a warning on social media, Road Police shared they had been out in the city in the early hours of Friday morning (June 24) when they saw the rider

First noticing the individual on Murrayburn Road in the Wester Hailes area, the rider was then found to have no insurance, and was also reported for a driving license offence.

Speaking on twitter, road officers said: "Officers from #EdinburghRP and #LivingstonRP paired up for the nightshift tonight.

"Officers stopped the rider of an e-scooter in the Wester Hailes area after observing it being used on Murryburn Road. Rider reported to COPFS for no insurance and a driving licence offence.

It is currently illegal to use an e-scooter on any public road or footpath in Scotland although the devices are legal to buy.

Road officers also shared how they had been called out to a crash in Dunbar this week (June 24), after a driver tested exceedingly over the alcohol limit.
