Edinburgh man builds incredible Hobbit-themed shed from scratch in back garden

Ali Hughson has been shortlisted to win 'Shed of the Year' 2022, with a public vote to decide who will be handed the prestigious title

Building the unique structure from scratch, Ali was able to theme his unique creation around the work of British author J.R.R Tolkein, known for his novel The Hobbit.

Used as a space to store his artworks, the shed is an artwork in itself, and even features the iconic round green door and sloping roof from the story.

Although an impressive shed unlike any other, the competition is said to be fierce this year for the title, with Ali's hobbit house up against a boat house, fairy garden and miniature pub.

The prize for the Cuprinol's Shed of the Year competition will be a whopping £1,000 for the winner, a plaque, and £100-worth of Cuprinol products.

Head judge and founder of the competition, Andrew Wilcox, was left impressed with the calibre of entrants this year. He said:
