Edinburgh NHS worker accuses stranger of 'keying her car' in row over parking

Rebecca, who wishes to keep her surname anonymous, noticed that her Mini had been damaged while parked on a road just a few minutes from the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Rebecca said that at the time of the incident, which was February 2022, she was forced to park on a nearby street due to the ongoing parking issues at the hospital.

She took to Facebook to appeal to anyone in the area who may have seen someone vandalise her car after she returned from a shift to see a long scrape along the length of the car.

After informing the police and having ring doorbell footage of a van pulling up next to her car, a person getting out and appearing to 'key' the car, the case was recently closed as the owner of the company the van belonged to failed to respond to their advances.

Rebecca, from Tranent, East Lothian, said: "I can't believe the police have just closed the case because the gentleman didn't respond. I have made a complaint to the police about it all. I parked on the road when parking was no longer allowed at the Royal Infirmary.

"The gentleman involved has also been out shouting at my work colleagues and other cars have been seen scratched outside his property and nothing has been done about it."

In a letter from the police, seen by Edinburgh Live, it informs Rebecca that the enquiry has been closed as a letter sent to the registered address of the accused was unanswered, and they have failed to identify the individual from video footage.

Rebecca added: "From the police letter, they obviously believe me that the car was vandalised and that the boy left the van and scratched mine.
