According to the Mirror, around half of Poundland's products are priced at a pound while it also sell larger items for more, but still at a low cost. Now the store has said it will be expanding its £1 range to 60 per cent, to give their customers better value

As well as focussing on the value of single items, rather than multipacks, the store are also expanding their frozen and chilled food range. This comes after they noticed an increase in customers visiting the stores for their weekly shops as food prices soar.

Known as 'Project Diamond', this phase of the rollout will see the range added to 100 more stores, including Lothian Road's store in Edinburgh. From September, nearly half of Poundland stores in the UK will offer customers chilled and frozen food.

Once the latest transition is complete in September, almost half the Poundland chain – over 350 stores – will offer customers chilled and frozen food.

Barry Williams, Poundland managing director, said: "It's clear customers are shopping more intentionally and that's why we're leaning into our £1 price point. While we don't have a magic trick up our sleeves to counter inflation, we know that those who work hardest to keep costs low will end up winning customers' trust

"The promise we make to customers that we can deliver amazing value, has never been more important. We're determined to not let them down. That's why we're offering more of what they want, at a price that recognises they need their money to work as hard as it can."

Poundland has around 850 stores in the UK and 350 of them will have chilled and frozen sections by September.
