Edinburgh Poundstretcher announces closure after two decades at Meadowbank

The outlet at Meadowbank will be closing its doors on May 17. The retailer began closing stores back in 2022, when 17 across the UK were shut down

Signs have been placed outside the store highlighting 50 per cent off everything in store. No official reason has been given for the closure, and it's not known how many jobs will be affected.

Gary McNamee, Area Manager for Poundstretcher, said: "Poundstretcher Meadowbank has confirmed as closing on May 17, after 20 years of trade.

"Everything in the store now 50 per cent off."

Three units, including Poundstretcher, within Meadowbank are set to be transformed into a huge new 24-hour gym. The existing Barnardo's charity shop, Pound Stretcher and a vacant unit at the retail park have been earmarked by The Gym group to use combine the units into a ground...
