Edinburgh's Tom Kitchin announces opening date of suave new restaurant KORA

Chef Tom Kitchin and his wife Michaela have said that the new restaurant will officially open on Saturday, July 2 with reservations opening online from Friday June 24

The finishing touches are being made to the Bruntsfield restaurant and bar ahead of doors opening next week with new staff being trained up and fresh produce arriving as the chefs settle into their new kitchen, tasting, and tweaking the final menu.

The restaurant will replace the French bistro 'Southside Scran', which was also owned by Kitchin, but was forced to close due to flooding in 2020.

The family-owned restaurant and bar will present a relaxed yet 'high end' experience for those seeking a cocktail and lighter bite at the bar, a family lunch or evening dinner with friends and family.

The name KORA, known in Greek mythology as the 'Goddess of flowers, vegetation and spring', symbolises Chef Tom Kitchin's deep-rooted passion for working with the seasons.

The name is also a tribute to new beginnings, the significance of nature and using only the freshest produce available, aligned with Chef Kitchin's 'From Nature to Plate' ethos.

Head Chef James Chapman will work closely with Tom and Chef Director Dominic Jack, on a creative menu that will present a seasonal selection of local Scottish meat and fish dishes, alongside a wide array of plant-based options - all evoking modern Scottish cooking with accents of global flavours.
