The drivers spruce up their cabs before setting off, decorating their vehicles with balloons, streamers and anything else that they get a hold of.

Not only that, but kids are armed with water pistols and super soakers and need no encouragement to take aim at bystanders and pedestrians waving them past.

Today will be the 74th Edinburgh Taxi Trade children's outing, which has been taking place since 1947.
