Edinburgh to be hit with mid-week heatwave with temperatures reaching 21 degrees

Temperatures on Thursday, June 23, are set to hit 21 degrees in the capital, that's according to the Met Office

On Monday, the weather within the city was definitely reminiscent of summer last year, albeit a month later than we'd all have hoped for.

With not many days this year so far leading to locals whipping out the factor 50, things could soon be about to change if the forecast stays the same until Thursday.

Between 4pm-7pm, temperatures are set to be at their highest, but the humidity is expected to last into the night - maybe getting that electric fan down from the loft would be a smart idea now.

Humidity levels are on course to reach beyond 60 per cent, with wind speeds of 20mph.

The Met Office say that the forecast from Thursday to Saturday is looking like "another warm day on Thursday with a lot of sunshine, cloudier on Friday with some showers developing and a risk of these turning heavy. Bright with a few showers Saturday."

They add that on Wednesday, June 22, temperatures are not to exceed 18 degrees, which is still warmer than we've experienced this year so far, but Thursday is when summer begins.
