Edinburgh will host unique floating garden with free plants to locals

Docking at Leamington Lift Bridge, Edinburgh Central, on July 1 at 5-7pm, the Floating Garden is made up of three elements. There is a Scottish Canals barge converted into a floating gardening plot, a performance stage with a massive flower puppet that will come alive to sing for the gathering locals and a floating ecosystem cleaning the canal and feeding the plants

Joined by other vessels from the boating community decorated to create a flotilla of floating gardens, the leading boat will bring harvest songs, spirited performances and hundreds of free grow-your-own starter kits for windowsill herbs to the local community.

Dandelion Festivals Director, Neil Butler, said: "We're so excited to launch our Floating Garden as it sets off from Glasgow and embarks on its journey to Edinburgh.

With a number of stops along the way, we hope as many people as possible get the chance to enjoy it, picking up free plants to join us in a summer of growing ahead of the Harvest celebration in September."

The Floating Garden will act as an inspiration for how modern-day people can integrate nature-praising and ecological ways of living into their daily routine and make the next step towards a more conscious lifestyle.
