This means Muslims across the world will fast for one more day on Tuesday before celebrating Eid on Wednesday.

Likewise, the UK astronomical data agency, HM Almanac Office, said earlier: "It is unlikely that any sort of sighting of the crescent moon will be possible on April 8th from the Middle East, North Africa, the United Kingdom and the eastern seaboard of the United States in particular."
