Eid ul-Fitr 2024 UK, Saudi Arabia and Morocco moonsighting forecasts announced

Eid ul-Fitr, also spelled as Eid al-Fitr, is one of the two primary Eid events in the Islamic calendar. It translates to 'festival of the breaking of the fast' and marks the end of Ramadan's daily fasting from dawn till dusk. The celebration involves feasts, gatherings, prayers and gift-giving

In London, the biggest Eid al-Fitr festival will take place at both Westfield sites in White City and Stratford. It will be from April 12 to 14 in West London and April 19 to 21 in East London.

The date of Eid ul-Fitr is determined after attempts to sight the crescent of the new moon. Astronomical predictions suggest that the moon will not be visible in Saudi Arabia, Morocco or the UK on Monday, April 8.

However, it should be easily visible on Tuesday, April 9, and Wednesday, April 10, reports Birmingham Live.
