Swedish hygiene and health company Essity AB (STO:ESSITY-B) has established the world's first production line for professional hygiene tissue products utilizing recycled food and milk packaging as the raw material, the company announced on Thursday.

Located in Hondouville, France, the facility processes 25,000 tons annually, equivalent to 60% of the nation's collected and sorted food and beverage cartons.

Since 2008, Essity's Hondouville plant has led the way in recycling paper fibre from food and beverage packaging in France. This recent expansion enhances recycling capacity by 40% and allows for the recycling of nearly all packaging materials, including plastic and aluminium. Essity transforms this recycled fibre into tissue products under the Tork brand.
