Euro NCAP has recognised China-based automaker BYD's Dolphin and Seal models with the five-star safety ratings.
Both models received top marks in the evaluation.
The BYD Dolphin, a compact model, competes with cars such as the Renault Zoe and Vauxhall Corsa Electric. The Seal is yet to be launched officially but will be the first BYD saloon available in the UK.
