Four swish Edinburgh restaurants named in Top 100 by prestigious awards

The Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards have recognised 100 eateries around the UK as the top in the country and Edinburgh's food scene has made a splash

Palmerston, Ondine Oyster and Grill, Little Chartroom and Aizle were all recognised as the Top 100 Restaurants throughout the UK and the highest ranking in the capital at The National Restaurant Awards 2022 last night.

Ranking at number 84, Ondine came in at the highest out of the Edinburgh selection, which they also picked up in 2018, 2019 and 2021. Last year they were awarded the coveted 'Best Restaurant in Scotland'.

The accolade is a direct result of votes from more than 200 industry experts throughout the UK, from top chefs, restaurateurs, food writer, critics, and other food experts. Organised by industry leading title Restaurant Magazine, the awards launched in 2007 and celebrate the brilliance, vibrancy, and the best of the UK dining scene.

Chef and Owner of Ondine Oyster and Grill Roy Brett commented on their award success: "We as a team are absolutely delighted to be awarded as one of the Top 100 restaurants throughout the UK. It is such an honour to receive the prestigious accolade from the industry itself, which we have been awarded for the last few years running. A huge congratulations also to Inver for being awarded 'Best Restaurant in Scotland', very well deserved. We as a whole team work so incredibly hard together, and we will always strive to keep doing what we do best. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Ondine Oyster and Grill."

Ranked at 97, Palmerston in the West End, was celebrated for its 'gutsy, calorie-ignoring dishes' as well as its wallet friendly prices with a three course lunch menu coming in at just £20.

The national awards also praised that The Palmerston is also one of only a handful of restaurants on the list that are open for breakfast.

The Little Chartroom, who is celebrating its fourth birthday, also bagged a spot in the top 100 list in 90th place. The awards highlights: "a simple, seasonal menu of British-style dishes...
