Richard Madeley was completely blindsided by the news that Greggs do vegan food, despite it being well over two years since the Geordie bakers went viral with their vegan sausage roll.

The This Morning legend is once again on GMB as a guest host and took his seat next to Susanna Reid to discuss everything from Strictly's James Jordan and Kristina Rihanoff in GMB clash over pros refusal to get COVID vaccine to the new series of Bake Off, which will feature the show's first ever vegan baker.

On the day that Greggs launches their autumn menu, Susanna told viewers that the show hadn't managed to track down the new vegan bacon roll, but they did have some vegan sausage sandwiches delivered to the studio.

Richard struggled to comprehend that Greggs were doing vegan food, exclaiming: "Vegan sausages from Greggs! Who would have thought it Greggs doing vegan food!"

Referencing her former co-host Piers Morgan's infamous reaction to the vegan sausage roll t wo years ago, Susanna replied: "Well they've been doing vegan sausage rolls for a while, famously on this programme...that one ended up in the bin."

Tucking into the food in front of him, Richard said: "I've nothing against vegans or vegetarian food, I eat quite a lot of it; so I'm just speaking as I find and it's quite dry and it doesn't taste very nice!"
