Heathrow and Gatwick: Latest Foreign Office travel advice for Greece, Cyprus and the Greek Islands

There are not many options for Brits to travel abroad at the moment, with many eyes eagerly awaiting the next travel rules announcement, expected on June 24.

This is the date the government has set to review the green list countries holidaymakers can travel to, without needing to quarantine on return.

But with Boris Johnson extending restrictions in England to July 19, foreign travel is unlikely to be advised before then.

Popular holiday destinations such as Greece including the Greek islands and Cyprus are currently on the amber list.

This means you should not travel to them for leisure purposes, but can only travel for essential reasons such as work.

Here are the latest travel updates for Greece, Cyprus and the Greek Islands.

Greece

Greece is currently on the amber travel list, meaning travellers are advised against travelling there, and must quarantine upon returning to the UK.

Commercial flights to and from Greece and the Greek Islands are operating, but travellers are advised to check with their travel company for the latest information.

Travellers must complete a Passenger Locator Form to enter, and must have proof of either a negative Covid test taken within 72 hours, or proof of being double vaccinated at least 14 days before travel.

When Brits return from Greece, they will be required to isolate for 10 days and get tested twice.

The Greek Islands

Cross-regional travel to the Greek islands from mainland Greece including Rhodes, Kos, Zakynthos, Corfu and Crete is allowed.

But travellers must demonstrate either proof of vaccination and 14 days after their second dose, or a negative result from a PCR test carried out up to 72 hours before travel.

Alternatively, travellers can cross between regions with a negative result from a rapid test conducted up to 24 hours before travel, or with a document proving you have recently recovered from Covid. This must be at least two months since infection, and no more than nine months after infection.
