Hibs snapped up the winger on a four-year deal from Benfica as the new Easter Road boss continues his summer recruitment drive

Tavares has been a player on Johnson's radar for over two years, going back to his Bristol City days.

He has hailed his new addition as a 'fantastic' technical player but says adapting from the second tier in Portugal to the Scottish Premiership will be hard going and has asked fans to give the new summer signing, who has has very high hopes for, time to adjust.

He said: "He's a player I've tracked for over two and a half years now. From my Bristol City days, we were looking to potentially bring him in.

"Through a clause in his contract, really, we've managed to swoop in.
