Historic Edinburgh cinema to host incredible drag event with performances

Life's a Drag will take place at the city's Cameo Bar, in Tollcross, and feature some of the capital's finest drag artists, D'La Laine, Elika Beerquaffed, Angel Beads, and Rozie Cheeks

The event, on June 29, aims to raise money for Refuge – a women's charity that raises awareness for domestic violence – and Kafe Kweer who are trying to provide more sober spaces to queer people in Edinburgh.

The spectacular show has been set up by George Reid, who has worked at the Cameo Bar since May 2021.

George was inspired to set up a drag event after Mimi D'La Laine joined the Cameo bar staff recently. George said: "The Cameo shows gay and LGBTQ+ movies regularly, but I wanted to do something for the community, especially since it is Pride month, that is a bit more hands on and to also help raise money to help Refuge and Kafe Kweer."

Refuge is a charity that the Cameo supports all year round. The charity helps women and children who are victims of but not limited to: domestic violence, sexual violence and arranged marriages.

Kafe Kweer is located in Gilmore Place, Bruntsfield where it is owned by Oskar and Zak. A café owner by day, Oskar performs as Mystika Glamoour by night. He performs at gay bar, The Street, at their monthly drag show. Edinburgh's Kweerest...
