Newcastle United will be facing a hectic search for a new manager ahead of pre-season if Rafa Benitez does not sign his new contract.

The club could also see Benitez's back-room team walk with him if he opts for pastures new.

Benitezcould leave on June 30, with pre-season training starting just four days later.

The Magpies have maintained for months they have no Plan B in place in the event that Benitez goes because they have claimed the former Liverpool and Napoli manager is their No 1 priority.

It is understood that Benitez's coaches Paco de Miguel Moreno, Antonio Gomez and Mikel Antia would all go with him this summer, leavingNewcastlewithout any familiar figures to take charge of the early part of pre-season.

Were Benitez to take a job in China he may look to bring his coaching team with him, or alternatively he could take a break from management and wait for his next job.

A total of four top-flight clubs changed manager between November and January last season and Benitez, who would prefer to work in the UK, has only seen his reputation enhanced after turning United from a Championship side into a sturdy mid-table outfit on a shoestring budget.

Yet Toon fans are anxious about what would happen if Benitez decides to leave this summer.

United do now have a senior figure on board in the shape of Neil Redfearn after he was appointed as Under-23 coach to work with Ben Dawson at the Academy.
