The Indian central bank has asked commercial banks in the nation to only provide their customers with contactless cards if customers demand it.

The apex bank said that the directive is focused on improving customer convenience and security. The bank said that at the time of issue or reissue, all physical and virtual cards shall be enabled for use only at contact-based points of usage.
