The Indonesian government has provided a bigger role for the nation's deposit insurer to involve itself in banking supervision.

The Deposit Insurance Corporation can now supervise cash-strapped banks under a new regulation issued this week. The move is aimed at enhancing safeguards to limit the risk of the Coronavirus pandemic.
