ITV Good Morning Britain viewer slams host Martin Lewis as 'like torture' -but he hits back

Following Piers' dramatic walk-off over comments made about the Meghan Markle, several presenters have stepped in to try to fill the 56-year old's boots from Alistair Campbell to the show's own Adil Ray.

However, the latest star to be joining Susanna Reid on the GMB panel is the show's money saving expert Martin Lewis.

It was announced yesterday June 17 that the consumer champion will be in the hot seat from June 28 to June 30, vowing to hold "power to account".

While Martin will initially front the show for a brief three-day stint, the Mirror reports that ITV bosses may offer him a longer contract in the role.

As the news was announced yesterday of the breakfast show's big change, many Good Morning Britain fans took to Twitter to express mixed reactions to Piers Morgan's replacement.

One even described the new addition to the panel as "torture".

However, Martin intervened when one viewer made an 'insulting' comment under the announcement on Good Morning Britain's official Twitter page.

Clearly disapproving of the show's latest Piers Morgan replacement, Twitter user Amy McMahon wrote: "Scraping the barrel now ay."

But fans were stunned when Martin Lewis himself responded to the viewer, saying: "Cheers for insulting me to my face. Hope no one does it to you."
