Jack Ross opens up on Dundee United transfer recruitment plans as ex-Hibs boss gets down to work

The 30-year-old joined Celtic on a free transfer yesterday after putting pen to paper on a four-year deal following the expiry of his contract at Tannadice. The Swiss stopper has been one of the top keepers in the country during his four seasons at the Tangerines with Ross now tasked with finding a replacement who is at minimum of an equal standard

The new Dundee United gaffer revealed he felt the buzz and excitement once again after being named as Tam Courts' successor having rejected previous offers in Scotland, England and abroad to get his foot back in the door following his Easter Road axing.

The 46-year-old has penned a two-year deal as he begins his process of recruiting players ahead of a crack at the Europa Conference League and the return of the Scottish Premiership at the end of next month.

He told Sky Sports News : "I think Benjamin's decision to try and pursue opportunities had been made clear.

"Obviously the planning aspect of recruitment has only really started in the last two or three days.

"That was an area which I was acutely aware from the first conversations that we needed to address, along with others.

"He's had that opportunity because he's performed so well for Dundee United in the last few seasons.

"They are not easy gloves to fill, but the task for us is to bring in a goalkeeper of at least equal calibre, and hopefully better."
