Kate Middleton's six key actions in days leading to emotional cancer announcement

But she reassured them by saying: "I am going to be ok". It's reported that Kate wanted to share her news with the world "as compassionately as possible".

And she made several key actions in the days leading up to the announcement.

Farm shop visit

One of these actions was a visit to a farm shop. The 42 year old princess was admitted to hospital on January 16 for "major abdominal surgery", which was successful, reports the Mirror.

At that time, it was announced that she would take a break from Royal duties to recover and would return to work after Easter.

When she had her operation, it was believed that her condition was non-cancerous because no tests had confirmed the presence of cancer. However, tests after the operation confirmed that cancer had been present.

Her short break from being seen in public had caused some mean rumours on the internet about where she was and how she was doing. But last weekend, she popped into Windsor Farm Shop with William for a relaxed visit near their house.

In the video, you can see Kate with her hair loose, wearing a comfy black top and leggings, and carrying a big white bag after they finished shopping.

Big choice

After people saw the video of William and Kate at the farm shop, news came out last week that the prince and princess "planned to be more open and honest" about her health. The Sunday Times reported that Kate's choice to tell everyone about her cancer was because she wanted to talk straight to the people.

A friend said to the newspaper: "It allowed her to speak directly to the public who, overwhelmingly, have always been with her and her family and who don't buy into the noise and gossip."

The paper also said that Kate wanted to give hope and show she stands with others who might be going through tough times like hers and to let everyone know she is "well and getting stronger every day".

Once she decided to make the video, it seems everything was set up "very quickly" and Kate "wrote every word" of what she said.
