Kia UK Limited as announced that it is to open a new training centre in Derby, known as the Kia Academy.

With completion expected by the end of this year, the new facility is planned to open in 2024 and will undertake development of the next generation of Kia apprenticeships and dealer training programmes.

The new 40,000 sq. ft. building within St. Modwen Park on the outskirts of Derby is intended to provide quality and pioneering technical training to Kia's next generation of automotive professionals, and it replaces the previous location in Nottingham, which had been Kia's training base since 2012.

The Kia Academy will provide advanced electrified training, STEM skills, and upskill up to 1,500 apprentice and adult learner technicians per annum, with a view to making them electrification experts.

The new facility is expected to employ around 15-17 full-time staff.
