Kingston pub unveils upgrade plans for beer garden right on the River Thames

The proposals from Greene King, which manages the pub, would see two metal pergolas, two entrance arches, two Victorian lamp posts, a retractable canopy and extra seats installed in the pub's beer garden to allow punters to use it more often, along with a waiter station so customers could be served outside. The exterior of the pub would also be redecorated to 'refresh' its appearance, while two new plant pots would be added to the windows

Planning documents said the layout of the garden would be 'more structured with fixed elements' and 'fixed seating' under the proposals, which would allow a 'properly thought-out layout to give guests a comfortable experience'. The pub's appearance would be unchanged by the proposals as the works to the building would only be like-for-like decorations and repairs.
