List of road closures and roadworks in the North East this week; These roadworks are due to take place on the region's roads this week and drivers are advised to avoid these areas to help minimise disruption.

Drivers are being warned of a number of roadworks due to take place in the North East this week.
A numbers of roads and streets are expected to be closed or will have temporary traffic measures in place. Our list below will help drivers to make allowances for these closures and alter their travel arrangements if necessary.
Diversion routes may also be in place on various roads, so motorists are urged to see if any of the works on this list are likely to disrupt their journeys. These road closures are for the week running Monday, July 4, to Sunday, July 10.

Temporary traffic lights due to roundabout construction on A183 Chester Road, Burnmoor, at Houghton Le Spring turnoff. Until September 16.
Temporary traffic lights due to roadworks on A183 Whitburn Road, Seaburn, Sunderland, near Lowry Road Morrison's roundabout. Until July 31.
Lane closed due to gas main work on A184 Park Road Westbound, Gateshead, at St James Road. Until 5pm on July 6.
One lane closed due to roadworks on A189 at A1056 Killingworth Way. On the roundabout. Near to High Gosforth Park. Until April 2023.
Temporary traffic lights due to roadworks on A191 New York Road, Murton, at Norham Road North / New York Road Shell Petrol Station roundabout. Redesign of roundabout with improvements to cycle track and footpaths. Between 9.30am and 3.30pm Mondays to Fridays to August 31.
Temporary traffic lights due to water main work on A191 Rake Lane, North Shields, near A192 Preston North Road Foxhunters Roundabout. Until July 29.
Temporary traffic lights due to long-term roadworks on A191 Rake Lane at North Shields turn off. Until July 29.
