LNER tells Edinburgh Waverley passengers to stay away as trains cancelled by lorry crash

It comes after a road accident near the railway on Thursday (June 24) between Newcastle and Edinburgh which is causing the delays

As a result, limited trains will now be running between Newcastle and Edinburgh today (June 24).

In the update Edinburgh Waverley quote the tweet with a warning to those travelling from the station today.

The tweet by LNER reads: " #LNERUpdate Due to a road accident near the railway yesterday between #Newcastle & #Edinburgh we are experiencing severe disruption to our trains. No trains will run between Newcastle & Edinburgh in both directions today, 24 June. Please DO NOT travel between these stations.

"Your ticket is valid for travel until Tuesday 28 June."

If you still need to travel, LNER state on their website that tickets dated June 24 will still remain valid for travel to Edinburgh and Glasgow on Avanti West Coast and within Scotland on ScotRail.
