Central London rocked by protest

Despite the capital being on the edge of a disaster with coronavirus spreading like wildfire, a big anti-lockdown protest was planned for Central London.

Thankfully, it didn't live up to fears from police union boss Ken Marsh that it could be the 'biggest protest of the year' but violence still broke out.

Police confirmed they have made 27 arrests during the protest.

A Met Police spokesperson said: "To try and keep people safe, Met Police engaged with our communities and protesters throughout the day.

"Some protestors refused to observe the requirements made of them, and 27 arrests were made. One male arrested was detained on suspicion of being in possession of a knife."

Forest Gate shooting and stabbing

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 9pm on Saturday, December 19 after being alerted to reports of a shooting on Dunbar Road.

They found the victim on nearby Skelton Road, suffering stab and gunshot injuries.

Thankfully his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

A spokesperson for the Met Police said: “Paramedics from London’s Air Ambulance treated the young man at the scene before he was taken to an East London hospital.

"He remains in a stable condition; his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

“A knife has been recovered. At this stage, there have been no arrests.

“Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 quoting reference Cad 6761/19Dec."
