Man scaled lamppost to remove '5G antenna' after viral post claimed it was harmful; Gateshead Council previously denied it had 5G lights - or that lights were causing cancer - but one local seemingly didn't believe them.

Gateshead Council insist they don't cause cancer.

But someone seemingly didn't want to take the risk.

One man was so worried the council's 5G streetlights were "killing everyone" he took action.

With the help of a ladder, the man climbed up a lamppost and removed the "5G antenna" from the top.

Of course, the council claim they don't have antennas up there.

In what quickly became a viral Facebook post,the Council also insisted the lights also don't cause nose bleeds, insomnia and miscarriages.

But not everyone is convinced - not the least the person who scaled the ladder one day in April.

Logs obtained by a ChronicleLive Freedom of Information request show the 5G vigilante targeted a lamppost inLingey Gardens.

In an email to the council, the person reporting him claimed he was "convinced thatGateshead Council arekilling everyone with new 5G lamps".

"He had a ladder up the other day to remove the 5G antenna," added the complaint, who added the conspiracy theorist's attempt at a good deed may not have gone down that well with locals.
