Lean cows just keep getting dearer and dearer with some extremely lean, older ladies breaking the 140-145ppkg barrier.

Fast becoming a popular place to do business for both buyers and sellers, more than 600 cattle sold through Acklington than this time last year.

Once again, a fantastic show of cattle forward totalling just over 200 head with again new faces around the ring, looking to purchase

the cattle on offer. An exceptional trade was seen, with types and ages of cattle presented.

Topping the sale with an outstanding Limousin Steer from R.E Young & Sons, East Coldside realising £1430 to J. Thompson, Small Burns, Longhorsley.

Topping the heifer trade again with some quality cattle from R.E Young & Sons, East Coldside realising £1250 to BW & AO Manners, Weetslade.

This was a fitting and

well-deserved end for the brothers Dennis, Erick and David Young who sold the last cattle from East Coldside today after nearly 40 years supporting Acklington mart.
