MasterChef judge Monica Galetti announces shock closure of her Fitzrovia restaurant

It will hold its final service on April 16. "It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closure of Mere restaurant-but we feel this is the right time after seven years," a statement on their website read

"We want to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank Alastair Storey owner of catering company WSH, which backed the restaurant and everyone who has supported us and our loyal patrons and dedicated staff throughout this journey. To our customers we thank you for your loyal and joyous visits. We hope to raise one last glass together before we close."

The restaurant was recommended in the latest Michelin Guide published in February, making the news all the more surprising. No reason has been given for its closure, but the hospitality continues to take a battering with staff issues and soaring costs.
