Last week, sirens sounded for the Queen and her family to take cover after chat-show royalty Oprah Winfrey told how "nothing was off-limits".

But what followed surely outdid their worst nightmares. When Prince Harry and Meghan's eagerly awaited interview finally aired, viewers saw them fire salvo after salvo at the House of Windsor.

The blitz included damning claims of racism, cutting off of finances, stripping of royal protection, claims of royals being "trapped", of Meghan being suicidal and of snubs by the Queen and Prince Charles.

ARCHIE RACE CLAIM

The Duchess told Oprah there had been several conversations in the Royal Family about how her son would look.

She also explained there were talks about how Archie would not be a prince or afforded royal protection.

Meghan said: "So we have in tandem, the conversation of 'you won't be given security... he's not going to be given a title', and concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be."

The couple claimed the family had the discussions with Harry, then the details were relayed to Meghan.

She declined to reveal who was involved in those conversations.

"That would be very damaging to them," she said.

Harry confirmed the exchanges, adding: "That conversation, I am never going to share. At the time, it was awkward. I was a bit shocked." Oprah said yesterday on CBS This Morning the prince told her the discussions were not with the Queen or the Duke of Edinburgh.
