Mercedes-Benz, a subsidiary of Daimler AG (Xetra: DAI), is expanding the GLE range with a range-topping model equipped with a V8-electric mild hybrid engine.
The vehicle is to arrive at United States dealerships in time for the 2020 model year. It is to be priced from USD76,800.
The model is to be powered by a twin-turbocharged, 4.0-litre V8 engine that delivers 483bhp and 516 pound-feet of torque. An integrated starter-generator uses the kinetic energy generated while braking to send 21bhp and 184 pound-feet of torque through the driveline when a temporary overboost function starts.
