Met Police probe claims 'violent' senior officer raped 2 female colleagues

The officer was not charged and is still a serving officer of the Metropolitan Police, more than three years after the allegations surfaced, the BBC has reported.

Though the women were awarded compensation by the police, one of them says that ‘we were just cast aside and not cared for’.

According to the Met Police, the force takes ‘all allegations of domestic abuse extremely seriously’.

A BBC investigation with the Bureau of Investigative Journalism found one of the officers started a relationship with an older, more senior colleague, but he allegedly became "controlling and violent" after a few months.

On numerous occasions, the unnamed male officer was reportedly violent towards her, once cracking her ribs, as well as raping her another time, the investigation found.

The second female officer was also in a relationship with the male officer, and they moved in together which she says led to three years of rape and assault.

She said: “He started abusing me after four months of being together. It progressed and progressed… he tried to kill me. He threw me against a chest of drawers in the bedroom.”

The two women were put in touch by a mutual friend and after realising how similar their experiences were, they reported the allegations in 2017.

Essex Police investigated the claims and the male officer denied the allegations. The Crown Prosecution Service CPS decided there was not enough evidence to prosecute in 2019.

One of the victims says that ‘it was a really bad investigation’ and claims that Essex Police ‘didn’t even finish taking all my allegations’.
