The CEO for Sistah Space, an organisation providing support for domestic abuse victims of African heritage, was called to a house in East London in the late hours of October 19 after an alleged domestic abuse victim was reportedly told to leave her house by two police officers.

The victim Z, who cannot be identified, called police to her home on Tuesday, October 19 due to a reported incident between her and her partner.

The CEO of Sistah Space, Ngozi Fulani, said she arrived at the home at around 11.45pm after the victim issued an SOS call to the service and spoke about her alleged treatment by the police.

In a video posted to Sistah Space’s Twitter account, a police officer appears to tell Ngozi: “Nothing has happened here today, there has been an argument between two adults because they can’t sort out their own issues.”

In another part of the video, the same police officer also says: “The police do not have anywhere else to take [the victim] so I don’t [know] how you want me to find somewhere else to take her.

"There is simply nowhere else. That’s just how it is unfortunately.”

Ngozi said she explained to the police officer that Z was a victim of domestic abuse but, she claims, the officer was dismissive.

The police say ‘no crime was alleged by either party at the time’ of the incident.

In the same video, which was uploaded on Twitter, Ngozi tells the police officer: “This has got to be one of the worst responses I’ve seen to someone.”

The police officer responded: “You clearly know what you're talking about so where would you like me to take her”

The full video is 11 minutes long but cannot be shared in order to protect the identity of the victim.

In the full video, the policewoman is heard telling the victim: “You are not together anymore and this is his property.”

The policewoman also says, reportedly in earshot of the alleged perpetrator, that “nothing has happened” and “domestic violence has not happened here today.”

In another part of the audio, the police officer appears to raise her voice at the CEO and says: “Don’t tell me how to do my job.”

According to Ngozi, the behaviour of the police officers ‘empowered’ the partner and ‘minimised’ the experiences of the victim.

Ngozi added: “The [police] were so horrible to her and they left us in it. They left me and her.

“There was no way she could have told the officer the full story because she...
