Metsä Fibre's Kemi bioproduct mill in Finland commenced operations on 20 September 2023, marking a significant investment in the country's forest industry. AFRY (STO:AFRY), Swedish engineering, design, and advisory services company, played a pivotal role in the project, contributing engineering and project management services across various phases, from early study to construction.
The Kemi bioproduct mill has an annual production capacity of 1.5 million tonnes of softwood and hardwood pulp, operates without fossil fuels, and aims for zero waste by 2030.
