Mum in fear of 'unfair' hikes

Carly, 36, of south-east London, works full-time but still needs universal credit to help pay the bills - and admits she is very anxious about the uncertainty ahead.

And with her four-year-old son Ezra set to start school in the autumn, the cost of uniforms is an extra concern.

She called for more support from the Government following the warnings that bills could reach £5,000 a year.

Carly said: "How is this allowed? Why is more not being done by the Government? I find it frustrating."
