Mystery after 'loud bang and explosion' heard in Sidcup overnight

The loud noise was reportedly heard at around 12.15am this morning Thursday, April 1.

According to one report, there was "no sign of trouble", but another said it "sounded loud and didn't sound good".

One resident, who lives near the A20 in Sidcup, Bexley, said they have "heard a few car smashes over the years but that was a bigger noise by far."

The bang was heard from other areas of Sidcup too, including Albany Park.

Several reports say that the 'explosion' was followed by the sound of sirens, and concerned residents said they "hope no-one is hurt."

"I heard the same thing, with sirens right after, but no idea of what happened. I thought it was fireworks at first," one witness wrote on Twitter.

"Hope everyone's ok," another said.
