New Heathrow Airport strikes over Bank Holiday weekend could see 'planes grounded'

Fifty refuelers working for AFS, a joint venture between four huge oil and gas companies, have pledged to take industrial action for 72 hours starting on May 4. Unite say the workers are striking after their employer imposed drastic cuts to the terms and conditions of new staff recruited since January 2024

The union claim AFS is attacking the most vulnerable new staff in its workplace by offering them reduced pension and sickness benefits. The strike could cause severe disruption for travellers over the bank holiday weekend.
