I felt very sorry for Jak Alnwick after his midweek mistake.

It does not matter if you are Joe Hart, Gordon Banks or Lev Yashin -- every goalkeeper makes mistakes like that. It is part of being a goalkeeper, it is something we all experience.

I feel in a special position to sympathise with Jak, because only goalkeepers know the feeling.

As soon as it happens you get a panic in your body. You just think "Oh no." You know you have done something very bad and very costly.

Then it is gone. You forget about it straight away. The mentality of a goalkeeper is to completely wipe it out of your mind straight away. I have seen some goalkeepers who go into their own body in those minutes after it.

They are not processing what has happened but those goalkeepers are the ones who do not make it.

You have to be very, very mentally tough.

There is no pressure like being in goal. It makes me furious when I see pundits talking about goalkeepers.
