Newcastle United's comfortable home victory over Crystal Palace was the ideal preparation ahead of their latest Champions League outing. The Magpies easily navigated what could have proven to be a tricky afternoon against the Eagles, recording a 4-0 victory which lifted them to fifth in the table.

Jacob Murphy opened the scoring after just four minutes, and a quickfire double from Anthony Gordon and Sean Longstaff put the result beyond doubt at the break. Callum Wilson added gloss to the scoreline just after the hour-mark, and Eddie Howe was able withdraw a number of key players with Wednesday night in mind.

Borussia Dortmund are the visitors to St James' Park, with the Bundesliga side picking up one point from their opening two Group F fixtures. Defeat at Paris Saint-Germain in the opening round was followed by a goalless home draw with AC Milan.

Newcastle will remain top of the group at the halfway stage if they follow up victory over PSG with another home win. However, Dortmund have been told five reasons they 'will beat' the Magpies by the official Bundesliga website.

Niclas Fullkrug is namechecked as a factor, with the summer signing netting twice in six league outings so far, while Dortmund's record of just one defeat all season so far has also been cited as cause for optimism. Marco Reus' form, Champions League pedigree and the Premier League...
